Training for textile jobs

HUBLI:
The government will launch a garments training programme for unemployed youth under the Golden Textile Policy, said textiles minister Gulihatti Shekar.

He was speaking during his visit to Vastravati-2009, a special handloom exhibition, on Tuesday.

He said an action plan of Rs 35 crore has been finalized by a high level committee chaired by him. Over 25,000 trainees would be enrolled for the training that will commence in March. Priority will be given to the taluks considered backward in the Nanjundappa report. The trainees will get Rs 2,000 stipend per month each. He said the aim is to equip the youth to take up self employment.
