Gopinath to launch air cargo services in Hubli

HUBLI: Capt. G.R. Gopinath, Director of Deccan Cargo and Express Logistics Ltd., has said that his company will launch air cargo services in 15 cities on October 15.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday after participating in the Founders’ Day celebrations of the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Capt. Gopinath said that Hubli would be one of the 15 cities.

Capt. Gopinath said that the decision to close the HAL airport in Bangalore was wrong. If it was kept open along with the new airport, it would have prevented monopoly and passengers would have been benefited more, he said. He said there was no need for another airport in Bellary, which had an airstrip and Jindal’s airport. At the outset, there seemed to be no need for another airport in Bellary, he added.

Capt. Gopinath said that there was a need for a comprehensive aviation policy that would help the aviation industry in reaching at least 25 per cent of the country’s population in another decade.
