Belgaum: Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation and district in charge Basavaraj Bommai has promised to construct a new Samskrutik Bhavan in the city.
At a meeting here on Monday, he said the building would be constructed with the funds available under the special grant of Rs. 100 crore provided to the Belgaum City Corporation by the Government. The construction would facilitate organising national and international level events.
He said the Government had accorded approval to development works, including roads and drainage lines in the city worth Rs. 86.08 crore.
Earlier, Kannada Rakshana Vedike activists led by district president Rajeev Topannavar met the Minister pointing out that a majority of works planned under the special grants pertained to roads and drainage lines at the cost of other development/improvement works.
