Rs 46-cr ISKCON temple at Rayapur in Hubli

HUBLI: Hubli branch of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has proposed to build a huge Radha-Krishna temple at Rayapur, between Hubli and Dharwad, spending a whopping Rs 46 crore.

The foundation stone for the temple would be laid on the day of Krishnajanmashtamai, August 14.Addressing a press conference here on Wendesday, ISKCON Hubli chief Rajiv Lochana Dasa said the new temple-cum-cultural complex would come up in a sprawling 8-acre area next to the Srikrishna-Balaram temple.The complex would house a heritage auditorium, an open air theatre, multimedia theatre and a cultural and spiritual theme park. The project, considered as the glory of India and Karnataka's pride, was designed by a team of architects led by Bangalore ISKCON chief Madhu Pandit Dasa, who designed the Bangalore ISKCON temple.The temple-cum-cultural complex will have a 2.5 lakh square feet built-up area at Rs 46 crore.The cultural complex would showcase India's tradition, art, architecture and valuable heritage, bearing a unique blend of traditional Hosysala and modern architecture, a synthesis of traditional South Indian temple architecture with modern facilities, he said.
