Work on Suvarna Vidhana Soudha begins in Belgaum

Cost of the project estimated at

Rs. 230 crore

127 acres of land allotted for the building


Belgaum: The dreams of the people of north Karnataka to have Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in the region will be realised in 18 months as construction work on the building got started at Halga-Bastwad site near here on Wednesday.

The Pune-based B.G. Shirke Construction Technology Pvt. Ltd., which started the construction work at a simple ceremony held in the presence of elected representatives and district authorities, is expected to complete the work in 18 months.

Among those present on the occasion included Suresh C. Angadi, MP; Prabhakar B. Kore, Rajya Sabha member; Feroz Sait, MLA; Sanjay Patil, MLA; G. Ravishankar, Deputy Commissioner; Soniya Narang, Superintendent of Police; S.F.Patil, PWD Superintendent Engineer; and social workers.

The cost of building the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha has been estimated at Rs. 230 crore.

The main structure will have three floors spread over 16,138 sq. m.

A total of 127 acres of land had been facilitated by the Government, thanks to farmers who voluntarily handed over their lands for the purpose.
