Rs 2-cr grant to develop industries in Belgaum

BELGAUM: Major and medium industries minister Murughesh Nirani has announced Rs 2-crore grant for the development of industries.

He was speaking at an awards function organized by Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) in Udyambag here on Saturday evening.

The grant will be utilized to improve link roads, water supply channels and drainage system in Udyambag and Macche industrial areas.

The minister said steps will be taken to widen the road stretching from Tilakwadi III Gate to Macche, where many industries are located. The road, being narrow, is prone to accidents, he added.

Nirani said basic facilities like land, water and electricity will be provided to those who set up industries in the state.

Sri Dilip Damale Memorial Trust Award and Sri Basappa Balappa Kagganagi Memorial Fund Award were conferred on Best Industry (Projetron Engineering Corporation), and Best Trader (Aga & Ajgaonkar Company), respectively.

MLAs Abhay Patil, Sanjay Patil, BCCI chairman Shreenath Deshpande, secretary Basavaraj Javali, several traders and industrialists were present.
